The district is in the subtropical monsoon humid climate zone with the characteristics of four distinct seasons, short spring and autumn, long summer and winter. The average annual precipitation is 1500～1600 millimeters which mainly concentrated in spring and summer. The average annual hours of sunshine is 1,647.6 hours. Because peaks rising one upon another and valleys are deep and crisscrossed in this area, solar radiation and atmospheric circulation of the Mesosphere and Lower Thermosphere are affected by the complex topography, hence forms a very special microclimate of mountainous monsoon with cold winter and cool summer and affected the climate of Mount Huangshan and its periphery area. Because heavy and inequable rainfall in mountainous area, this area is more likely to have floods and landslides than other areas. In spring with the temperature going up unsteadily, it is damp and cold; In summer with heavy rainfall, it is damp and hot, floods and landslides are easily to happen; In autumn, with the temperature going down rapidly, drought often happens and the temperature difference between day and night can reach more than 10℃; In winter, it is dry and cold with rare continuous rain and snow.
